School Assignment

For Homework, we were assigned the task of writing a paragraph about our art along with narrowing down a list of 100 words about our artwork to just 20. 

Paragraph About My Art

I am going to start his paragraph about my art by stating that I am very bad at verbalizing my ideas and feelings, especially when it comes to my art. I’m just a private person and I often use art to help me deal with things in my life, so explicitly outlining what my art means to me is difficult. One of the common themes I have found that my more meaningful artworks are all some sort of paintings and more often than not involve insects. I personally really like utilizing insects as depictions of struggle and mental health, particularly the butterfly. Often I associate butterflies with re-birth and growth, so when I incorporate them into my artwork they signify things getting better and improvement, at least to me. Furthermore, I often incorporate very subtle messages of homosexuality in my artwork because it is something that I continue to struggle to come to terms with in myself. I want to try and focus more on that in my artwork. Although it is something I struggle with, it can be portrayed much more positively than what I have previously been working on, and I want to find more joy in my art.
