Process #2: Home Project

I have essentially at this point finished my first home project painting. I did the Art-Assignment called "Become Someone Else". And then I used one of the selfies I took and created a painting from it, leaving out my eye lashes and making a weird face that I don't normally make to "become someone else." I also used somewhat reflective gold paint to accent my painting by adding a gold ring around my pupils(which I do not naturally have) and by outlining my hair to separate it from the dark red color I used in the background.
I think that I addressed my goals in this project. It is a lot messier that what I do in other paintings, since I added short strokes of color here and there without blending them out adequately. Furthermore, in using a circular canvas, I hoped to create more compositional interest. I choose a close up centered straight on photograph to paint because I felt like the centered straight on picture conveyed more craziness that if I had tilted my face away from the camera. Also the circular canvas allows me to play more with the specific arrangement of my face, I could tilt my face to be more horizontal rather than just perpendicular to the floor
