So I have decided to make a series because I was having fun painting women and butterflies. I am not yet finished with this painting. I have to finish up one butterfly and to the other two. I spent all Saturday afternoon until like 2:00 in the morning working on this after I finished the butterflies of the first portrait in the series. I really like how the scars in this one turned out, especially in comparison to the first paintings. I am thinking about doing ones that are less healed but I don't know if it am going to. So i think the series will be an evolution of recovery. Where the first paintings are more closed off with less butterflies and more recent scars, but the later ones will be more like this where they are more open position wise, but protected by clothing and with more butterflies. I don't really know though, I am just going to play around to find something that I like the best. I am really happy with how the hair, the background, and the underpainting interact in the top right edge and I want to incorporate that into my future paintings. I am really excited for this series, but I will still be working on my COVID-19 painting of my mother at the same time as these. I am kind of apprehensive about doing these butterflies, because butterflies are hard. It took me like three hours to do the other two in my first painting, so it should take me quite a while to do these.
