So these are my finished At Home projects I chose to do the Art-Assignment thing. For the first one I did the Invisible places one(or something like that I have been unable to find what it is actually called). I took a picture of a rigger and oar on the water before the quarantine situation where I was actually allowed to row, and then drew it in pen. Originally we were just supposed to take a picture of an "invisible place," but that was boring so I decided to draw it. I was going to draw it in colored pencils, but when I actually started it I figured that I'd better ink it because I was low on time and colored pencil would take too long. For my second piece I chose to do "Relative Stranger." It is a portrait of my childhood friend that lives in my neighborhood and goes to Maggie Walker, so we are still close friends, but the relative stranger part comes from me not being able to see him or hang out with him in person for a long time because of the quarantine. I painted him because I like painting things, and then for the background I wrote "queen" in gold sparkly acrylic paint because he is a queen. Below are some process pictures.

GoOd LoRd!! I am so beyond impressed that you finished TWO pieces. Whoa. Plus, they are both stunning. The rigger and oar ink drawing is beautiful in both composition and craftsmanship. Your use of line quality and value is exemplary. Well done. The painting is much more of your usual style, with the close-up of a face and background that also sort of blends into the figure (the yellow highlights in the hair). I also very much so approve of the "queen"s. I would recommend adding some texture to the hair just for the sake of adding another element of sophistication to the piece. I also advise that you touch-up the white spots around the hairline and smooth out the left jaw. Maybe it would also be interesting to add some shadows around the folds of the shirt, just another point of contrast? Not necessary, but maybe you could consider it. Overall, though, these two pieces are stunning. I hope you are happy with them.

I think that your invisible place piece uses a really interesting foreshortened perspective that makes you look closer at what the scene is. I also like how the yellow from the background is incorporated into the face of the portrait. I think there are a couple edges that could be more refined, but I like the overall color and expression.

Oh my goddddd Ryland!!!! Two pieces?! Dang I wasn’t even able to finish one haha :)). Incredible job on both. I absolutely love your craftsmanship on the Invisible piece, because the ink lines are so intricate and its a beautiful piece. Also its a really good foreshortening piece, and the initiative to draw it is admirable. I really like the color scheme of the portrait of your friend, and your use of yellow is really interesting. I love your style of very realistic yet not focusing on minor details and rather more on color and shapes and value. However, I think that you possibly could refine some edges a little bit on the portrait by perhaps adding some more lines in the hair to balance out the strokes of brown and yellow. Overall, I’m blown away, you killed it :)

oml Rylan the craft and composition in these pieces are absolutely amazing!!! I think it's really cool that you decided to do a more monochromatic piece because you tend to use color a lot, and it turned out really well!! I love how in your painting you decided to repeat the yellow in the highlights as well as the subtlety with the text. If I were to point out anything, I might say that the hair feels maybe a little unfinished but other than that, they both turned out so so SO good!!
