Process: Sculpture #1

Today we started actually working on out sculptures. I am making a clay sculpture and to prevent it from blowing up, also to make it easier to get the basic form down I have made an armature for my sculpture around a metal pole attached to a wooden base. After I made my armature with newspaper and tape, I wrapped it with plastic and some more tape in order to prevent it from deforming with the wet clay on it. I am happy with the way that it is progressing, but I am impatient with how long it is taking.

Ah, patience... it's tough. This WILL take time, though, no getting around that. One thing you can do is to have multiple processes happening at once. The clay arm is a priority right now - because it needs to get finished and fired but, when you feel impatient, you can always shift to working out the other elements of the project. Having a few things happening at once is always a good idea. Upload a photo with the clay you have added thus far!
